The late Dr. Bala Usman has been posthumously honored for his contributions to education, justice, and societal development during the maiden graduation ceremony of Yusufu Bala Usman College of Education and Legal Studies, Daura. The event, held at the college campus along Kano Road, celebrated his enduring legacy.
Speaking on behalf of the Usman family, Hajiya Zainab Bala Usman expressed profound gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing her late father’s dedication to truth, knowledge, and community service over material wealth.
"My father was a man of integrity and conviction who never prioritized worldly gains. He valued education and justice above all else and treated everyone with fairness and compassion," she said.
Renowned for his unwavering pursuit of knowledge and advocacy for the rights of the underprivileged, Dr. Bala Usman’s influence remains significant across Nigeria and Africa.
"This honor is a testament to the impact my father had in education and social development. His legacy continues to inspire scholars and activists alike," Zainab added.
She also extended appreciation to the college authorities for recognizing her father’s contributions, reaffirming that his ideals of education and justice will continue to serve as a guiding light for future generations.
Dr. Bala Usman passed away at the age of 66, and this September marks 20 years since his demise. However, his name and principles still resonate among academics and advocates of truth and justice.
Other distinguished personalities honored at the event included former Nigerian Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, alongside notable figures such as Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura (CON) and Alhaji Lawal Sade Daura, Managing Director of NNPC Trading Company.
